As a Northern California resident with ties to Paradise, California, I was inspired to create this composition in the aftermath of the 2018 Camp Fire that destroyed the pine tree filled mountain town of Paradise. The original composition includes a detailed pen drawing of a tall ponderosa pine, painted green and brown with India ink, set in front of a sun with radiating rays. The sun has pen detail with an India ink orange and yellow ombre effect that includes a speckled pattern.
